Install WordPress on HostGator Hosting
Here, I’ll be using Quick Install method as it is the quickest and easiest way to install WordPress on your HostGator hosting account.
Now, let’s get started.
Once you have purchased web hosting with HostGator, you would have received an email from HostGator (consisting your account info). Open that email and follow the steps below to install WordPress.
Step #1: In the email, you’ll have a link to your Control panel(cPanel) with username and password. Click the cPanel link.
This will open cPanel login screen in a new window. Copy/paste the username and password from the email to the cPanel login screen. Hit Login.
Step #2: Once you are logged into cPanel, scroll down to Software or Services tab. Click on “Quick Install” or “Softaculous Apps Installer” if you’ve bought hosting from hostgator.in (for Indian geography).
Step #3: On the next page, select WordPress to install it on your domain.
Step #4: Choose the domain name from the drop-down on which you want to install WordPress. Leave ‘directory’ field blank if you want to install WordPress at the root of the directory. Click Next.
Step #5: Create an admin username and password. Don’t use ‘admin’ as your username as it could lead to a security risk. Fill up other details such as blog title, first name, email address, etc.
Step #6: Select ‘automatically create new database’ and ‘terms of service agreement’ checkbox and then hit “Install Now” button.
WordPress will get installed within few seconds and a confirmation message will be shown on the screen with the login details. You’ll also receive an email with your installation details such as login URL, username, and password.
You can login to WordPress by visiting “yourdomain.com/wp-admin”. (Replace yourdomain with your actual domain name). Enter username and password and click login.
You’ll be taken to your WordPress dashboard where you can make any changes or add any content to your website.
