Xiaomi is all set to release its much-hyped smartphone – Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 plus in China on Thursday, 7 December 2017. Ahead of the Global launch, the company’s global spokesperson Donovon Sung already revealed on Twitter that the Redmi 5 will come in Black, Blue and Pink color while the bigger one Redmi 5 Plus will arrive in Black and Gold color variant.
In his Twitter post, apart from the look and design, he didn’t reveal much info about the Specification and price but GSMArena confirms that the smartphone will run stable MIUI 9 out of the box.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Specification [ Expected ]
As listed by TENAA Certifications, “Xiaomi Redmi 5” is expected to sport a 5.7″ HD+ (720×1440 resolution) display with 18:9 aspect ratio means the phone will sport bezel-less edge-to-edge display.
The Redmi 5 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 Soc with 1.8 GHz octa-core processor. TENAA listings also show that the phone will come in 3 variants with 2/3/4 GB of RAM and 16/32/64 GB of Storage with expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. The camera on the back will sport a 12 MP sensor and for the selfie 5 MP sensor is listed.
The smartphone is expected to run on Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on the top. The phone’s dimensions are listed as 151.8×72.8×7.7 mm and weigh about 157g. What’s surprising is that the phone has been listed to be powered by 3200mAh battery, which is smaller than what its predecessor Redmi 4 had offered i.e 4100 mAh.
As of now, there’s no price confirmation but it is expected to cost CYN1000 in China ( or $150 ). Also, it will come with a hybrid sim slot with the second slot as a nano sim or a microSD card.
Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus Specification [ Expected ]
While the “Redmi 5 plus” comes with a slightly bigger screen – 5.9″ Full HD+ (1080×2160 resolution) display with same 18:9 aspect ratio (~402 ppi density).
The device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 or 630 SoC with Octa-core 1.8Ghz Cortex-A53 chipset and Adreno 506 GPU. It could also come with different variants with different storage.
Like the Redmi 5, it is also expected to bear the same camera specification with 5 MP shooter on the front and 12 MP on the rear. Redmi 5 plus will also sport a better battery – 4100 mAh than Redmi 5.
Both the devices will come with a fingerprint scanner on the rear and are set to release on December 7 on China. With the huge success of Redmi 4 and Redmi note 4 in India, one can expect the company will release them in India soon.
