How to Reset Android Phone to Factory Settings

In those situations, your last option before handing your phone to Service Centers is to Factory Reset your phone to its Default Settings.

Important points to Remember before Factory Reset any Android Phone

Before performing the Factory Reset, you should “backup your phone’s data” to your associated Google Account because the Resetting process will “wipe” all your data from the Phone.

If you plan to sell your phone, it is advised to remove your associated google account from the settings before restoring it to Factory Settings.

Factory Reset your Android Phone from Settings Menu

Step 1: Go to your Phone’s Settings menu, Scroll down and look for Backup & reset and tap it.

Step 2: Tap Factory data reset and then press Reset phone.

Step 3: In the next step, you will be asked to enter your Screen Passcode, if it is enabled.

Step 4: Now confirm the process by taping “Erase Everything“.

This will immediately reboot your android phone and restore all your phone data to default Factory settings.

Factory Reset Android Phone by entering Recovery Mode

This method comes in handy when your Phone doesn’t boot properly or when you have forgotten your Screen Passcode.

It is highly recommended to backup your data before performing Recovery Reset.

Step 1: Turn off your phone, by holding the Power button.

Step 2: Now you need to boot your Android phone into Recovery mode. Getting into recovery mode varies from device to device. If the below instructions don’t work for your device, search on google with the name of your phone model and “Recovery mode”.

Step 3: Now hold the Volume down button and power button until the phone turns on, then release the buttons.

Step 4: Now you will see the word start and an android robot icon on the screen.

Step 5: Press the Volume down button to scroll down to Recovery mode.

Step 6: Now press the Power button to start recovery mode, you will see an Android robot now.

Step 7: Now press and hold the Power button, then press the Volume up button and let go of the Power button.

Step 8: Use the Volume buttons to select Wipe data/Factory reset, then press the Power button to activate it.

Step 9: Select Yes-delete all user data using the volume keys and power button.

Step 10: Your Android phone data will be completely wiped and restored to default Factory Settings.

Step 11: Now press the Power button to select Reboot System now.

Now your phone will be powered on and restored to default Factory settings. You can restore your deleted data from the backup you created.
