When you visit a website, Google Chrome stores information such as location, images, and web page data so that the next you visit that website, it will load faster because of the stored files in its cache. The stored cache files cut down the web page load time.
But websites are often updated, chrome browser may keep going to see the old cached version of the files, and you won’t see the latest changes to that website. Clearing Chrome browser’s cache allows Chrome to retrieve the latest copy available from the website.
There are times, it is useful to clear Chrome’s Cache if you are experiencing any 404 or 502 errors. Clearing your browser’s cache may help to protect your personal information and to recover disk space especially if you are using chrome on Mobile devices.
Step by Step Guide to Clear Cache and Cookies in Chrome (Desktop)
Step #1: Open “Google Chrome browser” on your computer.
Step #2: Follow one of the following to open “Clear browsing data” in Chrome.
Press “Ctrl+Shift+delete” simultaneously from the keyboard.
Click menu icon at the top right corner of the chrome window. Select “More tools” > “Clear browsing data“.
Select menu icon > Settings. Scroll down and click on “Advanced” > “Clear browsing data”.
Step #3: Choose “the beginning of time” from the “Clear the following items from“. Now check these two boxes – “Cached images and files” and “cookies and other site data“. You can check other boxes according to your requirement.
Step #4: Now Click “Clear browsing data” and your chrome browser’s cache will be cleared within few seconds.
Note: When using “Ctrl+Shift+Delete“, make sure you are pressing Ctrl and Shift keys from the same side of the keyboard.
